About The Faculty
Although we have
several assistants, your child will always have one of our principal teachers as her main
instructor. Our teachers have been tested on their knowledge of dance through
Southern Association of Dance Masters or are studying dance in college. They
regularly participate in continuing education to add new styles and fresh ideas to
time-proven teaching techniques.
Mrs. Kathleen Kinner Ms.
Kathy (owner, director, teacher) has been teaching dance to students from
the Springfield, Riverton, Sherman, Williamsville and surrounding communities for the past
29 years and is certified through Dance Educators of America.
She is a tested and accepted
member of Chicago National Association of Dance Masters and serves on the board of the
Southern Association of Dance Masters. She began dancing at the age of eight at the
Jo & Joey Mack School of Dance and taught at their school for four years. She
also performed in the area for several years with Macks Dancing Dolls. Kathy
is dedicated to bringing quality dance to her local community. She formed the
Shooting Stars Dance Team in 1996, and they have competed at numerous workshops,
conventions and competitions, earning many 1st, Gold, Grand and Top Awards. Besides
taking students to New York, Bermuda and the Caribbean to perform and take classes, she
has also taken large groups to perform at Six Flags. This past summer, she took a group to
perform at Disneyworld and take part in a workshop presented by a Disney Dancer.
Abby Donaldson - "Ms.
Abby" - Teacher: Abby is in her 17th. year of dance. She has served as
an assistant for several years and is beginning her fourth year as a teacher.
She has competed on the
Shooting Stars Competition Team since 1996 and served as team captain since 2004. She has
won numerous awards including 1st., Top, Grand, Gold and Special awards and a student
choreography award. She has received two scholarships, one from Co. Dance and one from
Dupree Dance Expo. She has graduated from Rochester High School, where she received many
blue awards at UDA camps and the Illinois State Fair. She was also a UDA All-Star for two
years. The past several years Abby has attended the four day CNADM Ballet Forum in
Chicago, danced on the cruise ship Explorer of the Seas, performed at Disney World, Six
Flags and attended the Dance Caravan Convention in Las Vegas. She has been involved with
and many civic organizations, including the Festival of Trees. Abby has tested and been
accepted as a member of Southern Association of Dance Masters. She is certified to teach
tap, ballet, jazz and tumbling. Abby is a Junior in college, where she is furthering her
education. She continues teaching dance at Kinner & Co. Dance Studio.
Jennifer Harness - Jennifer has been dancing since the age of 4. She
has danced with Kinner & Co. Dance Studio for 15 years and
has been on the
"Shooting Stars" Dance team for 8 years. Jennifer has also served as an
assistant for several years. She has received 1st, Gold, Grand, First Overall in groups
and as a soloist in many competitions. She has tested and been accepted as a member of
Southern Association of Dance Masters and is a certified instructor. She has performed at
Walt Disney World, Six Flags and aboard the Carnival Cruise Line "inspiration"
She has also competed at Dupree, New York Dance Alliance, CNADM, SADM, Hoctor Co. Dance,
and many more. Like many of the senior dancers at Kinner and Co. Dance Studio, Jennifer
has performed for many civic organizations, including Festival of Trees and many area
nursing homes. Jennifer has stated that the best part of dancing is is teaching the little
ones and seeing the twinkle in their eyes when they perform.
Elizabeth Szabo - Elizabeth is a junior at Williamsville High School and will graduate
in 2010.
Elizabeth has been dancing
since she was 3 years old. She is on the competition team and has won numerous awards for
her dances. Elizabeth traveled with other dance team members to Florida where they boarded
the cruise ship "Inspiration" and performed in the main showroom. Recently,
Elizabeth won a scholarship to go to Hollywood, California for hip-hop.
Timothy Logan
(Or "T" as he is called) - This is Ts first year teaching at
Kinner and Co. Dance Studio. Hip-Hop and Tumbling are T's specialties. He is a 2005
graduate of Glenwood.
T has danced for 8 years and has been
teaching or assisting for 4. He has attended numerous competitions where he has earned
many platinum, first and gold awards. T has earned a scholarship from LA Dance Force. He
has taken classes from many big name choreographers such as Shane Sparks and Dave Scott.
Along with competitions and conventions, T has also performed at many civic organizations,
such as Festival of Trees. This past year, T made the call backs for MTVs
Americas Best Dance Crew. He will be testing this fall for his teacher
certification.
